American Indian Summer Institute at FOX (Los Angeles CA)

Printer-friendly version

I am the Emma Bowen Foundation Fellow at NAPT and I was lucky enough to be sponsored by them to go to AISI (American Indian summer institute) this year in L.A. I had a blast and met some really influential people there. (Even the head *honchos* at fox) There where about 25-30 participants, all Native American students interested in the entertainment industry. We came from different tribes and were from all over the country. I, myself am from Nebraska, but my roommate was from New York and our neighbor was from Hawaii, etc. We had several workshops and even got to tour FOX studios! That was a big deal because FOX studio is not open to the public. We got to have a private screening on the lot of UNDER THE SAME MOON and we got to meet the screen writer and ask her questions! We met other Native American actors and producers and were able to chat with them about their journey/experiences. Everyone was encouraged to learn more about the industry and this program really made us all feel like we could make it in the industry. I met amazing people and we had a lot of fun. This was one of the best experiences of my life and I will never forget it.
