The Census isn't over...

Almost 35 percent of the nation's residences must still be counted, and local census takers are going door-to-door to finish the job. It's not an easy job, and we need help from the media to ensure that people welcome our census takers when they come to the door.

People will be more responsive if they understand that local census numbers determine our represenation in Congress and each community's share of federal funds for transportation, health care, schools, parks, and so much more.
Thank you for whatever you can do to support our census takers.

Knock at the Door...

Who Are We

Every ten years, the Census gathers household information that develops each community's profile.

- How old are our people? Do we have appropriate senior services
- Do we need more pre-schools? More recreation Centers
- Should we change our bus routes?
- Do we have sufficient water?
- Are our veterans properly cared for?
- Are we training our young people for today's jobs?

If you didn't send in a census form, Census enumerators will be coming to your door to collect your information. Check for official Census ID and their Census bag. Then welcome them and help them make sure you are included in Census 2000...because you count.

It's Confidential and it's the Law

If you didn't send back a census form, you still have a chance to be included in the Census.

When the local Census worker knocks on your door, check for the official Census ID. Then take a couple of minutes and add your answers to your community's records.

Be part of this civic celebration. It's safe, it's important and your answers are protected by law.
