This summer, NAPT co-presented with NAJA to bring the 2010 Native Nations Media Conference to St. Paul, Minnesota. A few of NAPT's staff attended and also presented at the conference. NAPT's workshops for media makers are now available online.

VMV's Gearing Up for Back-to-School
It's still warm outside, but school bells will be ringing everywhere soon! Assistant Director Heading to Wisconsin
NAPT's Assistant Director Georgiana Lee is heading to Green Bay, Wisconsin for the 12th Annual NATHPO Meeting.  For the week of August 9, 2010, the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin will host the annual meeting, as well as related events and training sessions. Georgiana will be presenting her session "Community Engagement through the Power of Media" where you will learn how you can utilize television, radio and internet resources to engage your community. NAPT has resources such as documentary films with viewer discussion guides included, educational materials for the classroom, radio theater programs and a soon-to-launch educational microsite that you can utilize in your facilities. If you'd like to schedule a meeting with Georgiana outside of the conference, please email glee3@unl.edu.

NMC Webinar--A Huge Success!
 
Over 100 pubcasters from across the U.S. logged on to interact live with the webinar Growing Your Diverse Audience: A Conversation with the National Minority Consortia (NMC). In the webinar, presented in partnership with the National Center for Media Engagement, representatives from the NMC drew upon their experience creating My Source testimonials as a springboard for discussion about how to better engage ethnically diverse communities. Attendees found the My Source spots, as well as the stories of the people that participated in the spots to be inspirational.

Valerie Red-Horse
Valerie Red-Horse (Cherokee/Sioux) is an award-winning filmmaker, entrepreneur and investment banker. She has produced content for both television and film. Recently, NAPT spoke to her about her current film project, Choctaw Code Talkers, a film about the Choctaw men who used their traditional language to help the Allies achieve victory in World War I.
