Hackers & Malware
Hanh mitakuyapi. Recently, my computer picked up a malware - from a supposedly safe web site, & despite a 3-layer firewall. It cost me my entire Favorites list, photos, documents, etc., etc. because when we copied the files from the laptop to an external HD, something in the malware corrupted the process.
I wiped the HD clean & reinstalled the OS, but could not get the drivers to reinstall, no matter what, so of course, off it went to the computer wizard, Ryan. He installed the drivers & I'm picking through what's left & putting it back on here. Cost me relatively little cash, but the time lost to inconvenience was considerable, & there's the frustration of not being able to cause the dimwatts who make these bugs memorable amounts of grief.. Particularly since I make my living via the Internet. My unending thanks to friends who are also in business, who gave me almost unlimited access to their Internet & computers so I could survive this while we all deal with the biggest flood hereabouts in recorded history. (Check out the Missouri River {Mni Shosheh} flood stories & online photos..)
Thus this note so you who read it may be warned - Ryan says malware has become such a huge problem, that even safe sites like Amazon & Ebay have problems with it & are constantly watching for & combatting it. He recommends Malware Bytes AntiMalware, for what that's worth to you - & I recommend that if you need further guidance, go to www.Cnet.com & check out their downloads section. I know from experience that anything from Cnet is reliable & safe - they do 'the computer thing' for a living & they're reeeally good at it. Wishing you (& your computer) good health!
