Your Story:
I live in Ca. My mom's father was the Chief of Kiana, his wife a Cree Princess, Emma Harrison. My name sake is Emma Harrison Kiana. In fact, I am hunting for her family in Canada. I looked through Alaska records, talked to the "old ones" and no one remembers her. Anyone that remembers are dead. Legend has it, she was stolen from a Cree tribe East in Canada. Emma Harrison was 11-13 years old when she was stolen. She is my Great-grandmother.The Kiana's are ashamed for stealing her from her People, so they won't help me find her family. Can you help me find them? Emma Harrison is her name. She is buried in Kotzebue, Alaska, along with my mom's ashes. Emma died in 1967 (or there abouts) but she wouldn't speak her whole life. She never liked her children (7) and disliked grandpa even more. He loved her and wished he never ordered his men to bring this virgin to her. She always disliked him, but weirdly she grew to love and respect him, but would never show it. He died finally, and it was then she realized she loved him. It was a tragic story. Kind of like, gone with the wind. This is what my told me. Mom died at 85 in 2004. She told me many stories about how all us natives sacrificed our lives in WWII. My aunt Laura Kiana and her husband are buried in Arlington Cemetery. My mom, Minnie Mae Kiana, served in Tripoli, France as a flight nurse for wounded soldiers. She watched a life long friend shot in the back by a German sniper before she could board the last plane out of France. I realized that Natives (like my mom and her comrad) would never be recognized by this country. I now want to reach my family in Canada. Maybe, their cool, but maybe not. I hope you could help me to find them. Cree Sister, Emma Kiana Dig. Publisher A.S., Web Designer, A.S.
