The Communication Arts and Sciences Department (
http://www.bw.edu/academics/spc/) is looking for a candidate to fill a tenure track, Assistant Professor Position to teach digital video and audio production courses within a newly developed interdisciplinary major in Digital Media and Design. This major requires coursework in Art, Broadcasting, Communication, and Computer Science. An MFA or other appropriate terminal degree in new media, broadcasting, or related field is required. The ideal candidate will also have significant professional experience and a record of successful teaching at the college level.
The successful applicant will take a lead in further developing the Digital Media and Design major, supervise the television studio and teach introductory, intermediate and advanced digital video and audio production courses, a variety software and web applications. Courses could include the following: Fundamentals of TV Production, Film Production and Direction, Advanced Production, Participation in BW-TV and Audio for the Media. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a background in television studio management.
Additional responsibilities include student advising/mentoring, service on departmental, division, and/or college committees, mentoring advanced projects, supervising internships, and supervising the television studio, and continuing professional development. Preference will be given to candidates with a commitment to student learning, collaborative program building, and a willingness to support the College’s general education program. A demonstrated track-record of working with students, colleagues, and community members that offer and bring multicultural and intercultural perspectives related to digital media is expected.
